What makes urban warfare the right label for the Battle of Stalingrad?

I was reading about the Battle of Stalingrad and I keep seeing the term "urban warfare" used to describe it, but the scale of the encircled armies and the strategic bombing seem so different from other city fights. It makes me wonder if that label really fits, or if it was something else entirely.
