What options do editors have to remove a window reflection on a tight budget?

I just noticed that in the final cut of my short film, a crew member's reflection is clearly visible in a window during a crucial dialogue scene. I'm trying to figure out if this is something a professional editor would have the time and resources to paint out in post, or if it's one of those mistakes you just have to live with because the budget was too tight for VFX.

Yep, a pro editor can usually paint that out in post with a bit of rotoscoping and patching, especially if the reflection is a clean window. If you have even a modest VFX budget, it’s typically doable as a few hours of work rather than a full reshoot.

I tried this once on a micro budget short and the patch turned the edge soft and the glow moved with the subject. It felt off, so we kept the take and moved on.

Do you know if it’s visible across takes or only in this moment?

Drift: I kept thinking maybe it was the lighting plan or the window angle, not the edit. I fiddled with flags and blocking to reduce glare, but on a tight schedule that felt risky and we nearly ran out of time.

Maybe the problem isn’t the reflection at all but the idea that something is supposed to be unseen; sometimes audiences notice the human glare and it becomes part of the scene rather than a mistake.
