What options do i have after auto insurance cancellation?
#1
I just got a notice that my insurer is cancelling my policy due to two not-at-fault claims in the last year. I’m worried this will make it really difficult to find new coverage without paying a huge premium, and I’m not sure what my options are now.

I went through something similar last year. Two not at fault claims within a year and my coverage was canceled at renewal. It was a scramble to find options; several carriers quoted then pulled back or asked for big deposits. I finally found a regional nonstandard carrier that would take me on, but the price was still higher and the deductible stayed high to keep it manageable.

One concrete step I tried was calling local agents and asking for a list of companies that handle cancellations. I compared total cost including deductible and plan limits. Raising the deductible and loosening optional coverages sometimes made the monthly bill doable, even if the protection wasn’t perfect.

Maybe the real issue isn’t the two claims. The pricing market has pulled back, and many carriers won’t quote aggressively after cancellations. It feels like you’re paying for a fault you didn’t cause, even when the facts seem on your side.

I drifted a bit and kept a small log of driving events to see if there was any lever left, and I tried a telematics program; it shaved a little but didn’t reverse the trend. It might be worth asking about discounts or bundling if you have other stuff to insure.
