I’ve been trying to beat the final boss in Ninja Gaiden on the NES for weeks now, and I swear the game just cheats. I’ll get through those brutal platforming sections, only to get knocked into a pit by a respawning bird the moment I enter the last fight. Is this a known thing with the RNG, or am I missing some specific pattern to make it fair?

Been there, I spent a few weekends on that boss too. I’d clear all the platforming and as soon as I step into the final fight a bird knocks me into a pit. It felt like the game was chucking a random hit right at the door.

I kept a tiny notebook of deaths and timing, and the spikes of failure seemed to land right after the arena load. I tried a few route variations through the platforming to shuffle the bird’s entry, but the moment I opened the gate it still hit me in the same instant.

Do you happen to use save states or play on an emulator? If you don’t, I’m not sure there’s a solid pattern to rely on.

Sometimes I drifted into thinking maybe I should come back later, but the pit kept calling me back. The bird timing still haunted me, even after a dozen attempts.
