What project management tool actually works for a small team without bloat?
#1
I’ve been trying to find a good, simple project management tool for my small team, but everything feels either too bloated or too basic. We just need task lists, a shared calendar, and file attachments without all the extra fluff. Has anyone else hit this wall and found something that actually sticks?

We tried a few options and kept it painfully simple: a shared task checklist, a team calendar, and a single folder for files. It works when we keep it lean, but any extra fields or tags slow us down and reminders are manual.

We did a trial with a so called lightweight PM app. It had the three basics but the calendar kept duplicating events and attaching files was awkward. We pulled the plug after a week.

I keep thinking maybe the real problem isn’t the tool. We talk about tasks and handoffs, then forget to update the list. The cycle repeats and the tool’s just a wrapper around that chaos.

We ran a two week test: one board, one calendar, one shared drive for files. We watched task flow and completion, and there was no meaningful bump. We dropped it and went back to the old routine.

I remember chasing features like mobile push alerts and nicer UI, then circling back to a plain list. The extra fluff just ate time.

I ended up using a minimal setup with a basic to do list plus calendar (no integrations) and it felt clean enough. It wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t require ongoing maintenance.

Do you actually need a single tool, or are we fighting a symptom like unclear ownership?
