What should I do about grainy Quest 3 pass-through in mixed reality?
#1
I just got a Quest 3 and the pass-through is way grainier than I expected for mixed reality. I was trying to set up a virtual screen in my living room, but the real-world detail just isn't there to make it feel seamless. Is this the normal experience for everyone, or did I maybe mess up a setting somewhere?

I got a Quest 3 last week, and yeah the pass-through looks grainy in a typical living room. The image has a speckled, TV-static vibe and the virtual screen never sits cleanly over the coffee table. It just feels off next to real furniture.

I fiddled with the headset fit and tried moving closer or farther, but the grain stuck around. It didn’t feel like a crisp window into another layer, more like a rough sketch.

I did a tiny test: lit the room a bit brighter and used a larger virtual surface, and for a moment the grain seemed to soften, then it came back as soon as I looked around. Not a lasting fix.

Maybe the problem isn’t settings at all or the hardware alone. I keep wondering if we’re asking it to do something the tech isn’t built for yet, like blending real and virtual at scale in a living room.
