What should i expect from DualSense haptic feedback on PS5?

I finally got a PS5 and was excited to try the haptic feedback in the DualSense, but honestly, I’m not sure it’s living up to the hype for me. In some games it just feels like a slightly fancier rumble, and I’m wondering if my expectations were just too high.

I tried a few games and in some you can feel the DualSense more than in others. In Astro's Playroom it had that new feel but across other titles it mostly felt like a richer vibration rather than a new sense.

I did tweak the in game options when I could. I cranked up the haptics where available and tried the adaptive triggers in a racing game and the brake feel came through more sharply. It still did not blow me away but a few moments stood out.

Are you sure the game actually uses the haptics not just a light rumble? Some titles barely touch it and you miss it if you are not looking for it.

Maybe the real issue is not the hardware but where designers place the feedback I kept hoping for a bigger shift and sometimes I got distracted by menus or load times and forgot to feel anything then I came back to the idea that the haptics are nice but not consistent.
