What should i include in my forum intro to fit in without oversharing?

I just moved to a new city and joined this forum to try and meet people, but I’m honestly not sure what I should share in an introduction post. I want to fit in here, but I’m worried about either oversharing or coming across as too bland. How did you all figure out the right balance when you first joined?

I joined and kept it simple. I said hi where I moved from and what I am hoping to find here. It felt warm to get friendly replies.

Worrying about oversharing was the hardest part for me so I kept it light and honest and skipped the long life story. Do you think a simple hello and one small fact works better than a big tale?

One time I posted a short intro and then talked about a local cafe I liked and a small hobby. It felt like a natural touch and people responded with their own picks and invites.

Another person in the thread said they wished they had kept it briefer and turned the thread into a stream of random facts. I learned to trim and let others steer the tone.

I tried to mention a neutral topic that could spark response like a weekend market but I got sidetracked thinking about a funny mix up I had with a map yesterday and then I came back to the post. It still felt like a good filter for what to say.

Maybe the real problem is not the post but the feeling of moving to a new city and not knowing where to start. I kept rereading and the vibe mattered more than the exact words.
