I’ve been told I have a retroverted uterus after my last pelvic exam. My doctor said it’s just a normal anatomical variation, but I’m still a bit confused because I sometimes get a really sharp pain deep inside during intercourse in certain positions. Has anyone else experienced this with a tilted womb?

I've got a retroverted uterus too. For me the deep sharp pain shows up in a couple of positions. Slowing down, more foreplay, and a gradual entry helped a bit. If the pain stays sharp or feels like something isn’t right, I’d flag it to a clinician.

I swapped a few positions and used a pillow under my hips to tilt differently. That changed the angle and sometimes reduced it. Still not perfect, but progress.

Some doc told me the tilt can be normal but if there’s pain maybe pelvic floor tension is playing a role. I tried a referral to pelvic floor physical therapy and it helped a little with comfort.

I keep wondering if it’s really the uterus causing the pain or something else in the pelvis. There’s no clear answer in my notes.

I’ve noticed dryness sometimes makes it sting more too. Not sure if related, but keeping arousal and lubrication consistent helped a bit in some weeks.

One time I had a sharp deep pain that lasted a few minutes after sex; the doctor did an ultrasound and nothing serious showed up. It wasn’t comforting, but it did ease the worry.

Have you noticed this pain with any movements outside sex, or just during intercourse?
