What should I know about bone density and RA bone pain?

With so many physics education resources available online and in print, it can be hard to know what to recommend. What physics education resources have you found most effective for different learning styles? I'm looking for recommendations for physics tutorials, physics study guides, and interactive materials that work well for visual learners, hands-on learners, and those who prefer mathematical approaches.

I’ve been managing my rheumatoid arthritis for years, but lately I’m noticing a persistent, dull ache deep in my bones that feels different from my usual joint inflammation. My rheumatologist mentioned it could be related to bone density, but I’m not sure if this is just a normal part of the disease progression or something I should push to investigate more.

I’ve had something like that, a dull ache deep in the bones that felt nothing like the usual joint swelling. It rattled me because it was new.

I kept a simple pain diary for six weeks—where the ache showed up, time of day, what meds I took, and sleep. Brought it to the rheumatologist and it helped frame the conversation.

We tried light activity and heat at the painful times. It helped a bit with stiffness, but the bone feeling didn’t disappear.

The rheumatologist mentioned bone density and ordered testing. The Dexa scan showed some loss, which changed how I talked about the problem with my team.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s from meds, or just aging or wear and tear on a longer disease course. It’s hard to tell what’s what.

I asked about imaging options and got mixed signals; I ended up waiting a few weeks to see if symptoms progressed before pushing harder.

Has your doctor suggested any imaging like a Dexa or MRI?
