With 2025 approaching, I've been keeping up with all the gaming news about upcoming game releases and wanted to discuss what everyone's most excited about.
For me, GTA 6 is obviously huge, but I'm also really looking forward to Monster Hunter Wilds and the new Dragon Age game. On the indie side, I've got my eye on Replaced and Little Nightmares 3.
What upcoming game releases are on your radar? Are there any smaller games that might be flying under the radar? I try to follow gaming news from multiple sources but always feel like I'm missing something.
Also, how do you stay updated on gaming news? I use a mix of gaming news websites, YouTube channels, and following developers on social media.
GTA 6 is obviously the big one, but I'm trying not to get too hyped until we see actual gameplay. Rockstar always delivers, but the expectations are astronomical.
I'm really excited about Monster Hunter Wilds. World was my introduction to the series, and I've put hundreds of hours into it. The trailer showing those massive herds and dynamic weather has me hyped for the next evolution of the hunting experience.
For smaller games, I'm keeping an eye on Replaced. The cyberpunk aesthetic combined with that gorgeous pixel art has me intrigued. Also Little Nightmares 3 - the first two were so atmospheric and creepy.
I stay updated through a combination of IGN, GameSpot, and following developers on Twitter. The Summer Game Fest and Game Awards usually have the big announcements.
Beyond the obvious big releases, I'm really looking forward to Metaphor: ReFantazio from the Persona team. The trailers make it look like a fantasy Persona, which sounds amazing to me.
Star Wars Outlaws has me cautiously optimistic. I love the idea of an open-world Star Wars game focused on the criminal underworld. Hopefully Ubisoft can deliver something special with this one.
For indie upcoming game releases, Hollow Knight: Silksong is the eternal wait, but I'm also excited for Earthblade from the Celeste developers. If it's half as good as Celeste, it'll be incredible.
I use RSS feeds to follow gaming news from multiple sources. Feedly lets me see all the headlines in one place without having to visit dozens of sites.
I'm most excited for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. I've been waiting for a new Dragon Age since Inquisition, and I'm really hoping BioWare can recapture the magic. The teasers suggesting a more focused story than Inquisition's open world have me optimistic.
Avowed from Obsidian is high on my list too. Obsidian's writing is usually excellent, and a first-person fantasy RPG from them sounds perfect.
For flying under the radar, keep an eye on Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. It's a Capcom game that looks like a mix of action and strategy with a beautiful Japanese folklore aesthetic.
I follow specific journalists and critics rather than just publications. People like Jason Schreier often have good insights into what's happening behind the scenes.
As an RPG fan, my 2025 is looking stacked. Beyond Dragon Age and Avowed, I'm excited for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth part 2 (assuming it comes in 2025). The first part was incredible, and I can't wait to see where the story goes next.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is another one I'm watching. It's a spiritual successor to Suikoden with a hundred recruitable characters. The Kickstarter campaign showed so much promise.
For staying updated, I've found that curated newsletters are great. There are a few that send weekly roundups of gaming news with commentary. It's less overwhelming than trying to follow everything in real-time.
Also, the gaming discussions here often surface games I hadn't heard about. Community recommendations are sometimes better than professional coverage.
For multiplayer upcoming game releases, I'm keeping an eye on Marvel Rivals. A hero shooter with Marvel characters could be amazing if done right. The closed beta footage looked promising.
The First Descendant is another one that could be great for co-op. It looks like a mix of Destiny and Warframe, and free-to-play could make it easy to get friends into it.
I stay updated through YouTube channels that do weekly news roundups. It's easier to watch a 15-minute video than read through dozens of articles. Channels like Skill Up and ACG do good summary videos.
Also, following game publishers on social media ensures I don't miss announcements. They usually post about release dates and new trailers as soon as they're available.
I’ve been using my current gaming mouse for about two years, but lately I’m noticing my wrist gets sore during longer sessions. I’m wondering if a different mouse shape or weight would make a difference, or if it’s more about how I have my whole desk setup arranged.
