What should I offer in a paid newsletter if I don’t have a niche?

I'm trying to decide if I should start offering a paid tier for my weekly newsletter, but I'm worried my current content isn't specialized enough. I share general tips on video editing, but I don't have a specific niche like gaming or beauty, so I'm not sure what exclusive material I could even offer behind a paywall.

I tried a small paywall last year. I kept it simple: a monthly template pack for editors and a live 30 minute Q&A once a month. I charged a couple bucks. A few dozen joined, but most dropped after the first month. It felt like value was there but the hook wasn't sticky.

I've stayed on the free side mostly. My stuff is general and I worry about niche complexity. The feedback I got is that people want tangible outcomes, like faster edits or fewer wasted steps, not just tips.

Do you actually have people who would pay for exclusives, or is the problem the topic not aligning with what they value?

A friend of mine tried a micro membership offering side by side edits of their footage. It was a drift from the main content, but some people liked it. It can work if you pick something people can immediately apply.
