What should i pick: Gantt vs Kanban for a mixed workflow team?
#1
I’m trying to decide on the right project management software for my small team, but I’m stuck on whether to prioritize a robust Gantt chart feature or a more flexible kanban board setup. Our work mixes predictable timelines with a lot of ad-hoc client requests, so I’m worried about picking a tool that forces us into one rigid way of working.

I tried a Gantt heavy setup for a small team and it turned into a rigid roadmap when clients suddenly asked for changes.

We then leaned on a simple visual board for day to day work and it felt fast to move tasks, but we kept missing deadlines and the workflow got messy.

We bought into a tool that promises both timelines and boards and it sounded perfect, but the initial configuration dragged on and we argued about what counted as done.

Maybe the real problem is how we collect work from clients and prioritize it, not the software at all, or is the bottleneck somewhere else?
