What size tv is best for a 9-foot viewing distance, 65 vs 75 inches?

I'm trying to decide between a 65-inch and a 75-inch TV for my living room, and I'm worried about getting the screen size wrong. My viewing distance is about nine feet, and while the bigger one would be more immersive, I'm concerned it might feel overwhelming or that the picture quality won't look as sharp from my couch.

I moved from a 65 to a 75 in a living room about nine feet away. At first it felt almost overwhelming, like the screen was big enough to touch from the couch. After about a week it settled in, and the immersion was real, but I did notice the picture looked a bit harsher if I sat off center.

I kept the 65 and I’m happy with it. It stays sharp and punchy, and the room doesn’t feel swallowed. If you watch a lot of casual TV, the 65 still feels very practical.

From my experience, the source quality matters more than the diagonal. A good 4K movie on the 65 still hits hard; the 75 helps with cinema vibes but only if you have high quality content.

Maybe the real issue isn’t the size at all. I played with seating and lighting and suddenly everything looked better on the smaller screen. It makes me think you should test both setups in your living room before deciding, not just in a store.
