What soluble fiber sources are best for heart health: oats or psyllium?
#1
I’ve been trying to eat more whole foods for my heart, but I’m honestly confused about what counts as a good source of soluble fiber. I had oatmeal for breakfast thinking it was a solid choice, but then I read something about the specific benefits of psyllium husk and now I’m not sure if what I’m doing is enough.

I stuck with oats because the soluble fiber thing sounded right, but then psyllium husk came up and I started doubting if I’m doing enough.

I tried psyllium husk a few weeks ago. It upset my stomach at first, made me bloated, so I stopped adding it daily. My breakfast felt heavier and I skipped it a couple of days.

Is this really about picking one ingredient, or is the bigger problem that my overall eating pattern isn’t consistent?

I keep thinking about adding beans, lentils, berries, or nuts, but I’m not sure how to fit it all in. Some days I just grab toast and coffee and call it good, which makes me wonder if the heart thing is about motivation more than food.
