What tips help balance a logo while keeping it dynamic?

I’ve been trying to create a logo that feels balanced and dynamic, but my initial sketches just look static and heavy on one side. I’m wondering if anyone else struggles with achieving visual equilibrium in their mark-making, where the weight of the elements feels resolved without being boring.

I’ve been there. My first roughs tipped to the left and felt heavy on that side. I chased balance by cutting a long stroke and adding a small counterweight on the opposite side; suddenly the center opened up and the mark stopped feeling glued to the page.

Tried mirroring elements, then nudged a circle down a bit and moved a line elsewhere. It felt lighter for a moment, but the energy dropped once I dropped the contrast too far.

Maybe the problem isn’t just the weight but how the shapes read from different distances and backgrounds?

I did a quick, imperfect test: asked a couple friends which version felt more alive and got split answers; one person pointed to a version where the top-right shape carried a bit more presence. I kept that tension but still don’t feel it landed.
