I’ve noticed that when I’m in a group chat, one person will often reply directly to something I said, but then completely ignore my follow-up question to them. It makes me wonder if I’m coming on too strong or if the conversation just moved too fast for them.

Yeah I’ve seen that too. They answer the first bit and the follow-up just slips away. It makes you wonder if you came on too strong or if the thread moves too fast for them.

I’ve tried rewording the follow-up and nudging them again after a bit, but most of the time it just sits there and I end up dropping it. It’s awkward to chase.

Sometimes I think the real limiter is the chat rhythm, not me. In big groups people skim for the punchy line and then drift. I still try to ask clearly though, even if it feels clunky.
