What true crime podcast respects victims and avoids exploitation?

I’m trying to find a good true crime podcast that actually respects the victims and doesn’t feel exploitative, but I keep starting ones that cross that line for me. It’s making me hesitant to try new shows in the genre.

I want shows that respect the victims, not just the clicks, so I check how they handle aftermath, survivor voices, and whether they post a correction if they get something wrong.

I actually tried a couple with slower pacing and fewer jump cuts, and I felt the tone shift when they bring in survivors instead of framing everything as a puzzle to solve.

Sometimes I wonder if the problem is me wanting a sense of closure, not the content; I skim show notes for trauma informed language before I commit and bail if it sounds exploitative.

Then I wandered into the production notes and funding stuff, which felt off topic but curious, and I still circle back to the idea that I want a show that treats people like humans. Is the real issue here the format?
