Should I hire a technical co-founder or keep outsourcing our mvp?

With all the comic book news coming out about upcoming comic book releases for 2025, I'm trying to prioritize my pull list. There's so much happening in both Marvel and DC, plus all the indie publishers. What new comic releases are you most looking forward to? Any particular comic book events or series that have caught your eye in the latest comic book news?

From the marvel comics news I've been following, I'm really excited about the new Ultimate Universe stuff. The Ultimate SpiderMan launch has been getting amazing reviews. On the DC side, the Absolute Power event looks promising based on the dc comics news. But honestly, some of the most exciting upcoming comic book releases for me are from smaller publishers like the new Something is Killing the Children spin off.

As a collector, I'm keeping an eye on all the collector's edition comics announcements. There's a new Absolute Edition of Watchmen coming that looks incredible. For new comic releases, I'm excited about the return of some classic comic books characters in modern stories. The comic book trends 2025 seem to be blending nostalgia with fresh approaches, which I think is a smart direction.

I'm most excited about indie comics releases honestly. The upcoming comic book releases from publishers like Image and Boom have some really interesting looking titles. There's a new series about a haunted video store that sounds perfect for Halloween reading. The comic book news from smaller publishers often gets overshadowed, but that's where I find the most creative stuff.

I'm looking forward to the complete collections and omnibus editions more than individual issues. There's a new Sandman omnibus coming that I've been waiting for, and some classic comic books are getting beautiful new editions. For people trying to follow comic book reading order guides, these collected editions make it so much easier to get into longer series.

I’m trying to figure out if we should bring on a technical co-founder at this stage, or if I should keep outsourcing our MVP development. Our prototype is built, but the feedback is pointing toward a major pivot in the core architecture, and I’m worried an agency won’t have the long-term commitment to see it through.

We ended up bringing a technical co founder on board after chasing agencies for months. He could reframe the architecture with product in mind, but equity and long term commitment slowed the process.

We tried outsourcing the MVP and it felt like a moving target, every pivot meant new scope, rework, and more cost.

I wonder if the pivot is really about tech debt or about market fit, we spent weeks arguing about layers while users wanted different features.

From a burn rate view, hiring in house is expensive unless you have a clear arc, outsourcing buys speed but you lose the intrinsic product knowledge.

We had a contractor who vanished mid sprint and that wrecked the timeline, not having a consistent tech voice hurt the spine of the MVP.

I still feel unsure, maybe we should lock in a small architectural experiment with a fixed price, see if we can get a stable core before deciding.

Question what is the smallest thing you can ship this week to validate the pivot, and who will be accountable if it tanks?
