When should i go to the er for sharp lower right abdominal pain?

I’ve been getting these sharp, stabbing pains in my lower right abdomen that come and go, and my doctor mentioned it could be appendicitis. I’m just not sure when the pain is serious enough to actually go to the emergency room instead of waiting it out.

I hear you, and I get why you’d hesitate. that sharp stabbing in the lower right can be serious. If you’re worried this could be appendicitis, go to the ER or call emergency services right away—fever, vomiting, inability to keep fluids down, fainting, or the pain getting worse or way less tolerable are red flags.

Another person here who waited and then regretted it. If the pain stays in one spot and won’t go away, or you notice it’s worse when you move or press that area, that’s a sign to seek care sooner rather than later.

I tried to ride it out for a day, kept a rough log of pain levels and positions that seemed to ease it. It didn’t really help, and the pain kept creeping around, which made me worry more about something inside. I ended up getting checked anyway, and it was nothing I was ready for.

Have you noticed fever or nausea or a new tenderness to touch when you press near the lower right area?
