Where can i find a local in-person book club for fiction?
#1
I’ve been trying to find a good local book club for months, but everything I find is either online or for a genre I’m not into. I’m really hoping to meet people in person over a shared love of fiction. Has anyone had luck finding something like this nearby, or is starting one myself the only real option?

I found a local in person option by asking at the library and checking the community center calendars. A librarian led me to a small fiction circle that meets once a month in a cafe room. It was not flashy we read one novel and talk for an hour and a half. It took weeks to get enough people. We share rides and discuss pacing and it feels real.

I tried starting a book club in my neighborhood. I hung flyers at coffee shops posted in the local online group and emailed the library. Two people showed up the first night and we fizzled after a few meetings because life got busy.

A quiet indie bookstore near my place runs a monthly fiction night. You sign up on a sign up sheet. Bring a friend if you want and the staff guide the conversation. It is casual and sometimes crowded but the vibe is exactly what you want.

Perhaps the real issue is timing or what you want to talk about. Some weeks I felt the choice of book mattered more than the people. Other weeks the people were great but the book felt off. Not sure.
