Where do i find the new crafting material for high-tier upgrades?

I just downloaded the latest patch for the game and I'm a bit confused about the new crafting material they added. It says it's for high-tier upgrades, but I can't seem to find any of the nodes for it on my usual farming route. Has anyone else figured out where this stuff actually spawns?

Spent a couple hours chasing the new material after the patch. I finally found a small cluster of those nodes in the glacier biome at the map edge by the ruined tower. It showed up after dusk, around 21:00 game time, and I walked away with three stacks before someone else grabbed the last one.

Same here on the usual route. Empty. A guildmate swore they saw one pop near a cave location after a server reset, but not on our lane. Could be RNG or some phase thing.

Sounds like it might be gated behind a quest or rep tier. I didn't see a new objective pop up, so maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Honestly I drifted a bit trying to figure it out, skimmed the patch notes, then closed the game for the night. Not sure if I'm chasing the right thing or chasing my tail. The whole thing feels fuzzier than before.
