Where's a good cafe with enough space and quiet for a board game night?

I’m trying to organize a casual board game night at a local cafe for our neighborhood group, but I’m worried the cafe’s space might be too loud and cramped for everyone to actually hear each other and play properly. Has anyone else dealt with picking a spot that balances being public and welcoming but still functional for a game?

We tried this recently. We asked the cafe for a quieter corner near the back, away from the espresso machine and the pastry case. We booked a long table and showed up early to test who could hear whom, then kept our group sizes small so voices didn't fight the room.

Hard surfaces in cafes really amplify the chatter. A rug and softer chairs helped a bit, and we asked people to speak up or lean in when the table got loud.

Do you think the real bottleneck is seating layout more than the cafe noise? Maybe loosening the circle around the table would help more than chasing a quiet spot.

We even started joking about lighting and playlist while we were waiting for everyone to arrive, but that felt off topic. Then we shifted seats a bit and tried to center the board so everyone could see, and that helped a touch.
