Why am i paying for a whole month just to watch a single show on streaming?

I’ve been trying to cut down on my streaming subscriptions, but I keep finding myself resubscribing to one just to watch a single show. It feels silly to pay for a whole month when I only want it for a week. Has anyone else dealt with this specific kind of subscription creep?

Yeah I feel this a lot. I cut things down, then I end up resubscribing just to catch one show, then I forget to cancel again and it drains my budget. It helps when I set a hard cut date and a list of what I’ll watch, but the moment the trailer lands I’m back at square one.

One practical thing I tried: I prepay with a gift card for a week or ten days, watch the thing, and then cancel. It saves me from the auto-renew, but it’s still annoying if the show drops in the middle of the week.

Are we sure the problem is the price, or is it just the way these shows drop when you’re not looking? I mean, sometimes I crave a single episode and it feels like I need the whole service again.

Maybe you’re chasing the wrong metric. I kept a little log of what I actually watched and for how long, and it didn’t really change the habit—I still wanted to subscribe for that one show.
