Why am I so invested in that rotisserie chicken clip?
#1
So I just saw that clip of the guy trying to return a half-eaten rotisserie chicken to the store, and the manager’s deadpan reaction is everywhere. Has anyone else felt weirdly invested in this? I’m not sure why I’ve watched it so many times or what it says about us that this is what blows up.

I watched it a few times and found myself pulled in not by the half eaten chicken but by the moment of control. it hints at how we treat rules, waste, and public face in stores.

I think part of it is shame about wasting food and the pressure to be polite even when the system feels petty.

I once tried returning an almost finished tub of yogurt because it smelled off. They refunded it with a shrug and I walked away feeling ridiculous but relieved.

Then I caught myself wondering if we’re chasing drama to avoid thinking about our own simple choices, like shopping habits. Still, the clip sticks.
