Why am i still tired even with a consistent sleep schedule?

I’ve been trying to stick to a consistent sleep schedule for months, but I keep waking up feeling completely drained no matter how many hours I get. My energy levels are just nonexistent by mid-afternoon, and I’m starting to wonder if my sleep quality is the real issue here.

I’ve been there. I kept a simple diary for a month—bedtime, wake time, caffeine, workouts—and I found the energy dip happened even with 7.5 hours. I started focusing on quality: dark room, no screens an hour before bed, and caffeine cut after lunch. It helped a bit, but not a miracle.

I tried a bunch of things and still felt wrecked by mid afternoon. My partner pushed me to get a sleep study, and they mentioned possible sleep apnea or restless legs. I’m waiting on the appointment, not sure what it will show.

I tried going to bed earlier for a week, but I woke up tired and blamed the air conditioner. Could it be that something else is off beyond the schedule?

Maybe I’m chasing the wrong problem. Maybe stress or workout timing matters more. I added a short morning walk outside and a steady wake time, but the slump remains, just different days.
