Why did i mute empathy in my social feeds, and is it making interactions colder?
#1
I just realized I've been automatically muting the word "empathy" in my social media feeds for months now. I set it up during a period of online burnout, but now I'm wondering if that filter is making my digital interactions more transactional and cold without me even noticing.

I did something similar last year, muting a bunch of emotional words. After a while the feed felt more like checklists than chats.

I tried flipping the mute on for a week, then reenabled a few phrases and watched how I felt after each thread. It was awkward at first, but I started noticing when I’d answer without warmth.

The word empathy I did mute too, and yeah it made conversations feel thinner, like people were leaving comments on a form rather than sharing.

Could the real issue be fatigue or something else, like how I measure what counts as a good reply? Maybe the filter is just a symptom.
