Why did The Fall Guy underperform domestically despite strong marketing?
#1
I just saw the final domestic total for *The Fall Guy* and it’s way below the opening weekend projections from a couple months ago. I know the opening was soft, but I thought for sure word-of-mouth and the star power would give it stronger legs. It makes me wonder if the marketing really captured what the movie was.

I saw the film last weekend and the marketing didn’t match the screen; the movie had a surprisingly warm, grounded vibe that the ads skipped.

A bunch of friends who wouldn't miss an action star didn't bother because the ad looked like a big splashy set piece. They were surprised when I told them it's more character-driven.

Maybe the word of mouth happened after people saw it, but people still didn't turn out. I wonder if the opening weekend was blamed on weak theatre counts or other factors.

Do you think the campaign sold the wrong movie entirely?
