Why did the main character's final choice feel off in the last episode?

I just watched the new season and I'm genuinely confused about the main character's final choice in the last episode. It felt completely out of step with everything they'd built up over the last two seasons. Did anyone else find that decision jarring, or am I missing some subtle character development that makes it make sense?

I felt the same. After two seasons building a certain tension, that final choice felt like turning the ship around with no warning. I sat with it and kept thinking about that one quiet moment earlier when they veered, maybe there was a hint I missed. But maybe the writers just wanted a gut punch.

I rewatched the last episode this afternoon, paused at the exact beat and checked the pacing. Still not sure if the payoff justifies the setup. Might be a sign the show is shifting away from the original arc, or perhaps they want to force ambiguity.

Are we sure the problem is the choice or is the problem that we wanted a predictable arc? I keep wondering if the real issue is how we define consistent character in a season that started playing with unreliable narrators.

I watched with a friend and we rewound twice to compare with earlier foreshadowing, and ended up talking about a different character's vibe for a while before circling back. Not sure what that means, but the discussion helped me vent some confusion.
