Why do follower mods cause purple face textures after installing?
#1
I’ve been trying to get a custom follower mod to work with my existing load order, but every time I install it, the character’s face textures come out completely purple. I’ve checked that all the required assets are in the right folders and my skeleton mod is up to date, so I’m not sure what’s causing the mismatch.

Purple textures usually mean the game can't find the texture file. I ran into this when a follower mod pointed to a folder name that didn't exist in my setup, and the face texture turned pink.

Check the texture path the mod points to and compare it with what your game expects. Even small differences in folder names or case can break loading.

Another angle is that the mod might ship textures in a BSA or vendor pack that your loader isn't unpacking. When that happens you see color blocks instead of real faces.

Have you tried loading the follower alone or disabling other mods to see if something else is overwriting the texture assets?
