Why do frame time spikes happen during team fights and how can I fix 144 FPS?
#1
I’ve been trying to get a stable 144 FPS in the new competitive shooter I’m playing, but my frame times keep spiking during team fights no matter what settings I use. It feels like my hardware should handle it, so I’m wondering if there’s something specific in the engine or a background process causing these hitches.

Yeah I chased this too. I kept hitting the target in big fights but the frame times would spike. It felt like the stutter showed up even though the gpu was fine. I found that turning off overlays and closing Discord helped a bit, but it didn’t disappear.

I watched Task Manager during a fight and saw one core spike when the chaos started. It looked cpu bound more than gpu, but I’m not sure if it is the engine threading or a driver hiccup. Either way the spikes came and then went.

Do you think it could be server side lag or netcode hiccups showing up as local frame time spikes?

I tried lowering texture quality and cut the draw distance to see if the engine dumps draw calls, but the spikes kept coming. Makes me wonder if this is a true hardware bottleneck or just how the engine schedules work during chaos. Not sure there is a clean fix yet.
