Why do i always skip the last track on my favorite albums?
#1
I just realized that when I listen to my favorite albums, I always skip the last track. It’s not that the songs are bad, but something about that final slot feels like a letdown after the stronger material earlier. Does anyone else find themselves doing this, or am I just not giving those closing songs a fair chance?

Yep, I do this too. The last track just feels like the engine cooling after the rest of the ride. Not that it's bad, I just want to hold onto the energy from the earlier songs.

I actually kept a little log for a month: track 10 got skipped about 60% of plays, while the final track barely scratched 10%. Seeing those numbers was a little eye opening. I tried letting it play through a few times anyway, but I still hit skip.

Sometimes the last track is a mood closer that never lands for me. Maybe the album’s arc ends on a high note and the finale just sits there. I don’t know, I drift off thinking about what could have followed instead.

Could it be that the real issue isn’t the track but how we listen to albums now—short attention spans, shuffle habits, endings that get skipped by instinct?
