Why do I feel guilty abandoning a shopping cart and hurting small creators?

Dating seems to change every year with new modern dating trends emerging all the time. Some trends seem helpful while others just add more pressure or confusion. I'm trying to figure out which modern dating trends are actually worth paying attention to.

Some modern dating trends I've noticed: video dates before meeting in person, being more upfront about what you're looking for early on, and taking things slower rather than rushing into exclusivity. But I've also seen trends like "situationships" that seem to create more confusion than clarity.

What modern dating trends have you found actually lead to better dating experiences? I'm looking for trends that support genuine connection rather than just following what's popular.

I’ve noticed I’m starting to feel a real pang of guilt whenever I abandon an online shopping cart, like I’m personally letting down a small business owner or a creator. Does anyone else get this, or am I just overthinking the human connection we’re supposed to feel through these platforms?

Yeah I get it. I fill a cart and then close the tab and suddenly I feel like I let a tiny business down. It sticks with me for a few minutes then fades.

I tried a few tricks. Turn off saved carts, stop leaving tabs open, tell myself I am not obligated to buy. The guilt eases a bit but it still shows up right after I hit remove from cart.

Sometimes I wonder if I am overthinking the connection. Maybe it is the copy and urgency tricks, not a real person. Still, it is hard to shake the sense I owe someone a fair chance.

There was a moment I left a cart and thought maybe I should have bought it for the shop owner. Nothing happened after but that feeling lingered anyway.

I started tracking how often I abandon carts for a week just to see if there is a pattern. The number did not change how I felt which was a relief and also kind of annoying.

Do you think the guilt is real or is it a story we tell ourselves about being decent to others online?
