Why do i still feel stuck between Steam and Epic Games Store?
#1
I’ve been using the Epic Games Store for a few years now, but I still find myself reflexively checking Steam for new releases and player counts. It’s like my library is split and my friends are all on the other side, even when I get a free game on Epic. Does anyone else feel locked into one ecosystem even when they try to use another?

Yeah I feel that too. I keep slipping over to Steam just to see new releases or player counts even though most of my friends live on Epic. It’s like I’m living in two dashboards and the free Epic game doesn’t quite fix the split.

I tried a small ritual to cope: I turned off Steam desktop notifications and stopped auto-launching Steam for a couple of weeks. It helped a bit, but I still end up checking Steam at least once a week.

Is the real problem the storefronts or the social layer? Maybe the draw is the people and the chat, not the color of the launchers.

One time I bought a game on Epic and tried to pretend Steam didn’t exist for a month, but a friend asked about a multiplayer night and I slid back in, not sure if I was avoiding the issue or missing something.
