Why do short-form videos ruin my focus on long articles and movies?
#1
I just realized I’ve been scrolling through short-form video feeds for hours, and I can’t remember a single thing I watched. My attention span feels completely fried, and I’m starting to worry this is rewiring how I think. Has anyone else felt their ability to focus on longer articles or even a movie just vanish?

I tried deleting the apps from my phone and only checking them on a desktop twice a day. It cut the impulse to open them at random and slowly I could finish a chapter without bouncing around.

I have felt the same and it is a little scary. I started a simple habit of reading for 15 minutes before bed and no screens after dinner. The first week it felt calmer, then old patterns came back.

Maybe the issue is not you alone but the feed with its quick hits. I tried to focus on longer pieces and it helped for a while, but the pull came back after a few days.

Do you think the problem is the feed or is it that I am tired and just need a real break?
