Why do some people respond to my message in group chats but skip my follow-ups?

I’ve noticed that when I’m in a group chat, one person will often reply directly to something I said, but then completely ignore my follow-up question to them. It makes the whole interaction feel weirdly one-sided, like they just wanted to make their point and then check out. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Yeah, I’ve seen that. They answer your line and then just disappear when you ask a follow up.

I tried sending a quick 'gotcha' and then waited, but they didn’t circle back; the chat moved on and I felt ignored.

Sometimes I drift into thinking the real issue is the group vibe, like everyone is sprinting to own the point and the rest gets skimmed; still, it bumps back to the follow up.

Sometimes I just drop the thread or take it to a DM to ask the follow up directly, which feels awkward but it avoids that one sided vibe.
