Why does Monster feel slow pacing even though it's a classic seinen anime?

I’ve been trying to get into more seinen anime, but I started watching *Monster* and I’m about fifteen episodes in and it just feels like it’s dragging. The pacing is so methodical it’s making it hard for me to stay invested, even though I appreciate the atmosphere and the moral questions it raises. Has anyone else hit this wall with a critically acclaimed series?

I hit the same wall with Monster for a while. The mood is there, the dialogue is calm, and the pacing stalls you out. I hung in because the atmosphere pulled me in, and around the mid-point things started to matter more and the tension finally crept up.

I paused, then skimmed a recap to confirm I wasn’t missing a big reveal. It helped me see that the problem wasn’t the plot, just the tempo. After that I bounced to a different seinen title to scratch the itch, like Parasyte.

Maybe the real issue is that the themes feel heavier than I expect in a show I want to binge. The slow questions can feel like a grind if you’re not in the headspace. Do you think the problem is the pacing or the themes?

I ended up taking breaks into my watching schedule. A few days off, then a short burst, and the scenes stuck a little more. Still not sure if I’ll finish it, but I’m not rushing.
