Why does my sleep tracker show low deep sleep when i feel rested?
#1
I just got the new smartwatch with the advanced sleep tracking feature, but I'm not sure I trust the data it's giving me. It says my deep sleep is consistently low, but I feel pretty rested most mornings. Has anyone else found a big gap between what their gadget reports and how you actually feel?

I had the same thing for a couple weeks. The device kept saying I had almost no deep rest, but I woke up feeling fine and alert. I started jotting a simple note each morning: how rested I felt on a 1 to 5 scale and any naps I took. The numbers didn’t line up with how I felt.

I tried wearing it tighter and on the non dominant wrist, cleaned the sensor, and re paired it. It shaved some of the weird swings, but the baseline stayed wonky.

I compared trends over a couple of weeks rather than single nights. The day with more activity looked worse in the chart, but I still felt okay next morning.

Sometimes if I wake up briefly in the night, it flags me as restless even if I fall back asleep in minutes.

Maybe the issue isn’t you but the way the tracker estimates rest from movement and heart signals.

Have you tried keeping a tiny diary for a week and comparing it to the numbers?

I gave up on trusting the exact numbers and just watched the general pattern. If you feel rested most days, that matters more than a single night reading.
