Why does Quest 3 smooth locomotion make me queasy in VR and what options help?
#1
I just got a Quest 3 and I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle movement in games like Into the Radius. Using smooth locomotion makes me feel queasy after a while, but teleporting completely breaks my immersion. I wish there was a standard comfort option that worked for everyone.

I tried smooth locomotion and it made me queasy after a while too. I switched to teleport with a short fade and a tiny vignette, and I could go longer without feeling awful, though immersion took a hit.

Another route I tested was snap turning at 30 degrees and keeping movement speed gentle. It cut the nauseous feel for me and kept the action moving.

Is the real issue maybe not the option but how the game is paced and how quickly the world moves around you?

I keep hoping for a universal comfort profile, but it seems people react differently. For me a light teleport with fade is doable, and I can squeeze out a longer session than with smooth locomotion.
