Why does the galaxy s24 screen look dull with adaptive color on?
#1
I just got the Galaxy S24 and I’m already noticing the screen seems a bit dull compared to my old phone, especially with the adaptive color tone feature turned on. I’m wondering if this is just how it’s supposed to look for better eye comfort, or if I got a unit with a display issue.

Yep the adaptive color tone on the S24 is meant to bias the display for eye comfort. On my unit it did feel a bit dull at first, like the colors were softened and the blacks were not as deep in dim rooms. It does not feel broken so much as a design choice that shifts warmth and saturation automatically.

I tried putting the screen into a fixed mode and it snapped back to life for me. In Vivid the colors were punchier and the brightness seemed more uniform. It felt less washed out, but I did miss the natural look sometimes.

It might not be a dead display issue. Sometimes OLEDs look different depending on the app and content. After a software update I still felt something off, but I am not sure if it is the panel or just the look I got used to on my old phone.

One quick question is the eye comfort shield on?
