Why does the Road House remake risk losing the original vibe?
#1
I just watched the new Road House, and I’m honestly torn. I loved the original’s cheesy, over-the-top vibe, but this one feels so different in tone that I’m not sure it even works as a modern reinterpretation. Does changing the core feel of a classic like that miss the point of calling it a remake?

I watched it last night and it felt more grounded than the original's goofy grindhouse vibe. I kept waiting for a dumb line or a ridiculous bar brawl, and this version didn't give me that. It's like they built a different movie and called it Road House.

I took notes as I watched, mostly about pacing and the fight scenes. The choreography was clean, the soundtrack tighter, but the stripped-down vibe made the bar feel less earned, more like a set piece.

I liked some scenes, but the vibe shift left me unsure if I'm judging it as a sequel or a remake in spirit. Part of me wanted that irony and swagger back, part of me appreciated the blunt seriousness.

Do you think this remake choice to lean into drama instead of camp is the real problem, or is it just not the same movie in your memory?
