Why doesn't recoil training translate to real matches in ranked play?

I just can’t seem to get a handle on the recoil patterns in this game, especially when I’m trying to control a spray at medium range. I practice in the workshop for hours, but the moment I get into a ranked match and the pressure’s on, my aim just goes everywhere. Does anyone else feel like their practice never really translates when it counts?

I hear you. I could drill the workshop all day, but when ranked starts, my aim goes haywire and I lock up. I notice my breathing, posture, even tiny jitters before a spray. I try pausing between fights, taking a quick breath, and resetting the aim, but it still slips in clutch moments.

I started keeping a tiny log of my sprays. I’d note how many bullets I can fire before the recoil drifts, then practice those bursts until I can reset the rifle in under a second. I noticed medium range drifts up, a bit right, so I adjusted by aiming slightly lower and pulling smoother. It helped sometimes, not consistent yet.

I’m starting to think the real issue isn’t the recoil curves. Is it the mental load, latency, or me overthinking every shot in a ranked lobby? It sure feels like the same target, but the countdown throws me off.

One time I tried switching to shorter, controlled taps at mid range and dropped the spray entirely. It felt awkward and slower, but I landed more consistent shots in a few rounds, then slipped back into the spray habit when pressure climbed.
