I’ve been trying to contribute to a major project by fixing a specific bug, but I’m completely stuck on the project’s CLA process. I signed it electronically through their system, but my pull request is still blocked with a “pending legal review” status that hasn’t changed for over a week. Has anyone else hit this kind of administrative wall after doing the actual technical work?

Yeah I hit that too a while back. I signed the CLA and then the PR sat in legal review for what felt like ages. No clear ETA and no one would commit to a timeline.

I ended up emailing the repo admins and opened a ticket with the legal contact. They asked for a couple of extra docs I did not have handy so I paused the work and waited.

I started browsing old policy notes and reading the governance page by accident. It felt like wandering off topic and I was tempted to abandon the fix, but I kept eyeing the PR. In the end the issue still felt like paperwork not code.

Is the real problem the CLA queue or is there another gating rule we just cannot see yet?
