Why is my search history leaning toward diy and practical skills lately?

I’ve noticed my own search history has become almost entirely about practical skills and DIY projects lately, from fixing appliances to learning basic carpentry. It makes me wonder if this shift toward self-reliance is a wider thing people are feeling, or if it’s just my own bubble reacting to how expensive everything has gotten.

I started fixing little issues at home: swapped a faulty dimmer, tuned the cabinet hardware, even wired a simple shelf lighting. It saved me money and gave a small boost of confidence. It did feel like self-reliance was becoming a vibe around me, but I can't be sure if it's broader or just my circle noticing the same things more now because prices go up.

The algorithm probably nudges you toward DIY content when you click it more; same thing happened to me after rents climbed. Maybe it's more about what we see than a real shift.

Took on a bigger project, like building a simple bookcase. It took forever, and I measured wrong twice; finally I got something that works but I'm not proud of the finish. I learned you can get a lot done with patience, and I still hire pros for tricky bits.

I wonder if what you're noticing is a signal, or just a fandom of fix-it memes sneaking into search histories. It felt like my focus shifted when the budget tightened, but maybe it's just my screen time.

Do you think the real problem behind the searches is something else, like stress or time pressure, rather than just higher costs?
