Why is sovereignty recognition tied to self-determination in international law?
#1
I’m trying to understand how a country decides to officially recognize another state’s sovereignty, especially when there’s a major power involved. For example, when a smaller nation is pressured to withdraw its recognition of a contested territory, where does that leave the principle of self-determination in international law?
