Why is the blend door actuator in my Civic’s A/C chirping?

My 2015 Civic’s air conditioning has started making a faint chirping sound that seems to come from the dash whenever it’s running. It’s not the belt, and it goes away completely if I turn the climate control off. I’m wondering if this could point to a failing blend door actuator or if it’s something else in the ductwork.

I had something similar on a 2015 Civic. that faint chirp from the HVAC box when the AC runs can point to a failing blend door actuator; it can squeak as the door moves with the climate settings. It’s still worth ruling out the belt since you checked that already.

Years ago I chased a chirp that sounded like it came from the dash. Turned out it was a loose screw rattling in the blower housing. It was tiny, and it vanished when I tightened a panel screw.

I’m not sure that’s the real issue. Could be a fluttering bit of duct, or a loose trim panel catching the air. Do you hear it louder at certain fan speeds?

If you want a quick check, try switching between vent modes and fan speeds to see if the pitch changes. If you can locate the sound to the blower housing, that’s a clue; otherwise it might be a small thing in the dash. Either way, it could be one of those fiddly HVAC issues that’s annoying more than dangerous.
