Why might Crohn's cause lower back pain like sacroiliitis?
#1
I’ve been managing my Crohn’s for years, but lately I’m noticing a persistent, dull ache in my lower back that just won’t let up. I’m starting to wonder if this could be related to the inflammation from my disease, maybe something like sacroiliitis, rather than just a muscle strain from gardening.

I've had that dull lower back ache too. I used to blame it on gardening and tight muscles, but when it hung around for weeks I started wondering if Crohn's was sneaking into my spine.

I kept a simple pain log: what I did that day, what I ate, and how strong it was. A few days after mowing the lawn the ache spiked. A heat pad helped a bit, and a gentle stretch felt loosening, but it came back.

Do you think this is the real issue or is the back pain just a separate thing? part of me wants to chase a diagnosis, but I'm not sure what actually needs fixing.

If it sticks around, a clinician check might be worth it, especially if you wake at night, lose weight, or have fever. Inflammatory back pain linked to IBD is a thing, and imaging can help.
