Why pay for a photo op with the main cast at a sci-fi convention?

I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting a photo op with the main cast at the big sci-fi convention this summer, but the price is pretty steep. I'm just not sure if the rushed thirty-second interaction will feel meaningful or just end up being a blurry, expensive memory.

I did it once. thirty seconds of small talk, a quick pose, then the flash and it was over. I walked away with a glossy photo and a memory that felt more rushed than meaningful.

I skipped the op and used the money for a good meal and a couple of prints later. The memory came from the conversation with a friend in line, not from the photo.

The thing that stuck with me wasn’t the image but the vibe—the crowd, the chaos, the tiny jokes from the crew in the autograph area. The photo would have captured nothing of that.

Do you have a specific moment you want to lock in, or are you chasing the status of a big name in a photo?
